Abstract

The current research aims to identify the extent of awareness of the head of the family about conflict management strategies and its relationship to achievement motivation among children in adolescence. The research follows the descriptive analytical approach. The main research sample consisted of (160) housewives and their children from the urban and rural areas of Fayoum Governorate.
The results of the research reached:

The presence of statistically significant differences in the responses to the measure of awareness of housewives of families of the basic research sample of conflict management strategies represented by positive strategies [cooperation strategy-settlement strategy "pacification"] and negative strategies [avoidance strategy-coercion strategy] for the benefit of both (rural population- housewives with a high educational level – housewives aged 45 years and over – housewives with high incomes).
The presence of statistically significant differences between the children of the basic research sample in responding to the axes of motivation for achievement represented by (independence-desire to succeed and excel– love of curiosity) in favor of both (urban residents – housewives with a high educational level – housewives aged 45 years and more – housewives with high incomes).
There is a direct correlation between the axes of the scale of positive family conflict management strategies and the axes of motivation for achievement at the level of significance of 0.01, 0.05, while there is an inverse correlation between the axes of the scale of negative family conflict management strategies and the axes of motivation for achievement at the level of significance of 0.01, 0.05.
