The Impact of a Global Rising Prices Crisis during the Russia-Ukrainian War on the Egyptian Consumer Buying Behavior

Abstract

The research aimed to study the impact of a global rising prices crisis during the Russia-Ukrainian war on the Egyptian consumer buying behavior, explanation the correlation between some social and economic variables of the study and each of a global rising prices crisis during the Russia-Ukrainian war and the Egyptian consumer buying behavior with  its aspects, Explanation the differences in a global rising prices crisis during the Russia-Ukrainian war and the Egyptian consumer buying behavior with  its aspects according to (gender, place of residence), evaluation the variance of a global rising prices crisis during the Russia-Ukrainian war and the Egyptian consumer buying behavior with  its aspects according to (Marital status, Educational Level, Monthly Income, Job), identifying the impact of a global rising prices crisis during the Russia-Ukrainian war on the Egyptian consumer buying behavior and social - economic variables which are the most influential on the Egyptian consumer buying behavior. The research used descriptive analytical method. The sample of this research including 1080 men and women from rural and urban areas in some governorates of Egypt with different social and economic levels were selected in accidentally purposed way. The research was applied in governorates: Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Qalyubia, Sharkia. The tools of this study included general data form, rising prices crisis questionnaire with its aspects (Realize crisis, Preparing to face the crisis, Facing crisis), the Egyptian consumer buying behavior questionnaire with  its aspects (determining the goal, find alternatives, evaluating alternatives, bear the responsibility). Data has been released, classified, tabulated and using statistical methods through SPSS.
The results revealed that the global rising prices crisis during the Russia-Ukrainian war significantly affected on the Egyptian consumer buying behavior specifically, on the first month to the fifth month, and it has reached its maximum levels of influence on the Egyptian consumer buying behavior and from the sixth month to the eighth month, its intensity began to decrease gradually and number of family members, monthly income and the educational level are the most influential variable in the Egyptian consumer buying behavior. The study recommended that the necessity of the Consumer Protection Agency for warning against adopting any violations or price manipulation,  launched control campaigns on the markets to monitor the availability of all food commodities, and to address any violations that some try to adopt in order to gain unauthorized profits, holding seminars, training courses and workshops and expanding the field of free online courses under the supervision of professors in home economics faculties and specific education faculties, Home Economics Department for training in crisis management in general and rising prices crisis in particular, and how to deal with it in its stages and reduce its negative effects on consumer buying behavior.
